Getting around Edinburgh is easy on foot or by bus which serves all of Edinburgh - the bus stop is just outside! Craigmoss is also perfectly placed for trips on foot to the great cafès, bars and restaurants.
Travel information
By Air:
The Edinburgh Turnhouse Airport has several daily connecting flights from the major London airports, as well as other centres around the UK and Europe. Once at the airport, take the airport bus to Waverley train station, then a short cab ride or a 15 minute walk (see below in 'By Car'). Alternatively, you can take a taxi directly from the airport.
Edinburgh Shuttle provides door-to-door transport between Edinburgh Airport and the City. A fleet of 7 seat spacious mini-coaches run a frequent daily service and pick up and drop off at Craigmoss Guest House. Generous luggage space and excellent value fares. At the airport, Edinburgh Shuttle departs from outside the terminal building at UK arrivals where there is also a Sales Office.
By Train:
Edinburgh is linked to the rest of the UK by an excellent rail network (weather permitting). You can travel directly from London, Glasgow, and many other cities and towns. Timetables and other rail information can be found at Railtrack. Once at Waverley train station, exit to Princes St. and walk for 15 minutes (see below in 'By Car'), or take a taxi.
By Car:
From the A1:
- The A1 ends at the east end of Prince's Street.
- Turn right from Waterloo Place onto the A900 (Leith).
- Carry on down Leith Street.
- At the roundabout, go straight over (the Playhouse Theatre will be on your right).
- At the second roundabout, go straight over, heading downhill on Leith Walk.
- Pilrig Street is the 3rd main street on the left (look for the church on the corner).
- Craigmoss is on the left-hand side opposite the park.
From the A68:
- The A68 ends at the east end of Prince's Street.
- Veer right from South Bridge onto the A900.
- Then, as above.
Important information
Cancellations:
The house will always do their utmost to re-let rooms following cancellations. The full charge will be due if cancellation is within one week of arrival (deducting any revenue from re-letting).
A no-show will be charged in full, except during the festivals in August and at New Year and any rugby matches when there is a 14-day cancellation policy.
All cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged by the house before any action can be made, therefore, it is recommended that you take out travel insurance just in case you have to cancel through something unavoidable.
A non-refundable deposit equivalent to one night's stay is required for all New Year reservations.
Check-out is by 10.30am on day of departure. An estimated arrival time is kindly requested for all reservations.
Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children under 2 years are charged GBP 5.00 per night and person for cots.
There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.
VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is not applicable.
Internet: Wireless internet is available in public areas and is free of charge.
Meal Plan: Breakfast is included in the room rate.
Parking: Free public parking is possible at a location nearby.
