Located in the centre of Tuscany, the hotel was originally built in the 18th century, at a place where, centuries earlier, during the Medieval age, the Formica River once flowed.
The owners have taken great care to incorporate the story and traditions of the original house during an extensive remodel: stone walls, roof beams, skylights, original terraces. The interior decorations have been impeccably chosen, giving each room a unique look and feel.
The Tangohotel is situated outside the famous town walls; the centre of Lucca is about 200 metres away. Easily reachable by any transport mean, the Tangohotel is only a few metres from the train station and the highway exit, making it ideal for both business and leisure travellers. By car:
From highway Del Sole (A1):
- Exit at Firenze Nord.
- Join the Firenze-Mare highway (A11) towards Pisa Nord.
- Exit at Lucca.
From Genova:
- Take the Genova-Livorno (A12) highway.
- Exit at Viareggio.
- Join highway A11 towards Firenze.
- Exit at Lucca Est.
From Livorno:
- Take the Genova-Livorno (A12) highway.
- Exit at Pisa Nord.
- Join highway A11 towards Firenze.
- Exit at Lucca Est.
From Peretola Firenze airport (60 km):
- Take highway Firenze Mare (A11) towards Pisa Nord.
- Exit at Lucca.
From Galilei Pisa airport (35 km):
- Take highway A12 towards Genova.
- Exit at Pisa Nord.
- Join the A11 highway towards Firenze.
- Exit at Lucca Est.
- Once you have passed the highway toll of Lucca Est, keep to the right for about 100 metres before turning left at the intersection.
- Keep straight alongside the Esselunga Commercial Centre.
- Join Via della Formica, the hotel is along here, towards the end, on the left-hand side.
By train:
The train station of Lucca can be reached coming from trains originating in Pisa, Viareggio and Firenze.
Once at the train station, leave via the rear entrance/exit and turn right. After walking 100 metres you will find yourself at the beginning of Via della Formica street (also accessible from the town walls and through the pathway that crosses the railroad). You will find the hotel 200 metres from there.
